We partnered with Kiva, the #1 edible brand in the country, to redesign their entire packaging line. The design objective was centered around sustainability — 100% recyclable and biodegradable, and environmentally friendly. In addition, all structures must be child-resistant and compliant with multi state cannabis packaging regulations.
The strict sustainability guidelines required our team to get creative with use of materials. We sourced a bio film that lines the interior of the box to prevent unwanted ripping or tearing; typically, we would use a matte lamination finish applied to the exterior of the box, but this does not comply with recyclability standards. All tins were built with a child-resistant tin material, instead of using commonly sourced and non-environmentally friendly plastic.
The boxes incorporate a multi-level blind deboss stamp, which was perfected in manufacturing. This gives the illusion of depth and realism.
The Camino tins incorporate overlaying vector illustrations and gradients, creating a pictorial scene. When we received the artwork, the amount of colors used was not compliant with our manufacturing capabilities and the way color gradated was yielding unwanted banding. We worked meticulously with our production facility to convert all SKU’s to a 4-color process with 2 spot inks, while ensuring high quality printing.
Each material was carefully selected and meticulously sampled by our team. Inspired by Kiva’s mission to raise the bar, we really pushed ourselves to deliver high quality packaging solutions that are environmentally friendly.
