Sonos is a California-based developer and manufacturer of wireless home audio products. They were looking to give their customers a uniquely simple, yet exciting opening experience for their Playbase and Play:5 audio products.
The Playbase is designed to sit flat beneath your television and serve as a powerful audio hub in your home entertainment center. The Playbase is featured in a standing format within the package to properly distribute weight and to accommodate a carrying handle. The product protrudes from the base in a heroic fashion and is easy to grab for removal.
The Play:5 required the development of patented custom clips, that secures the lid in place without the hassles of unsightly tapes or labels. Bright graphics and color contrasts ensure customers find and use the side clip when they are ready to un-box. Then it’s just a matter of sliding the clip, unlocking the lid, and lifting it off in a single fluid movement to reveal the speaker, elegantly nested inside.
Both structures were subjected to military-grade drop testing and passed.
Sonos products are simple to set up and use—it’s only appropriate that the packaging embodies a similar user experience. Slide the clips to unlock the lid and lift in a singular, fluid motion to reveal the product inside.
